What if an honest politician existed?

In Uncategorized on September 27, 2012 at 4:50 pm
The two most misguided notions held in America:
1) Our Government wouldn’t really do that to us
2) If they did, they would tell us about it on TV

Tired of bad TV ads, political rhetoric, and the 2 battling parties?
Then pass this on to all your friends. (remember to BCC and delete FW info)
America has a viable alternative.

What if an honest politician existed?…
You’d never see him on TV.

The “Official” Presidential debates on TV are FAKE!
They DO NOT INCLUDE ALL ELECTABLE Presidential CANDIDATES!
ONE guy is doing something about it:

Why is this important to you?
Gary Johnson is fighting for the right for ALL third party candidates to be able to participate in the national debates now and in the future.

Who is Gary Johnson?
He’s the VERY ELECTABLE third party secret you won’t see on TV.
He WILL BE ON YOUR BALLOT in all 50 states!

Are Americans ready for a third party?
Yes they are — 40% are dissatisfied with the parties, Pew Research Poll (Sept. 24, 2012):
http://www.people-press.org/2012/09/24/fewer-satisfied-with-candidates-than-in-any-campaign-since-1992/
Let’s face it, the 2 Party politicians have been serving themselves, not you.  And the media is only interested in pitting the Big 2 against each other – for RATINGS.

Unless you act now, this year the “official” debates, will again deprive Americans of hearing GARY JOHNSON or any other third party.

5 SIMPLE (no cost) Things you can do to help third parties get in the Debates:
1. When pollsters call choose “other”
2. Let the debate commission know you want to see all candidates debate: comments@debates.org
3. Sign the petitions:
4. Especially if you’re tired of the 2 parties – Get out and vote THIS YEAR!  You don’t have be a registered Libertarian to vote Libertarian.
5. Forward THIS EMAIL!

Gary Johnson is a successful businessman and still popular two term governor of New Mexico.
He is the Libertarian Party candidate running for President in 2012.
The LP is the third largest party in the US — you might be a Libertarian!

Gary Johnson is the proven, practical candidate. The only honest voice in the race.
He got on all the state ballots the hard way – by petitions

Gary Johnson deserves to be in the Debates.

Gov. Gary Johnson in Video: I’m the Only Candidate Who Doesn’t Want to Bomb Iran

GOV. GARY JOHNSON’S NEW VIDEO:
“I’M THE ONLY CANDIDATE WHO
DOESN’T WANT TO BOMB IRAN”

Sept. 27, 2012, Santa Fe, NM – In a new video, Libertarian presidential candidate and former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson states: “I’m the only candidate who doesn’t want to bomb Iran,” contrasting his non-interventionist policy with the “I’m tougher than you are” posturing of President Obama and Governor Romney.

The video, called “The War Stops Here,” also highlights Johnson’s pledge to immediately bring U.S. troops home from Afghanistan.

Releasing the video, Johnson said, “The recent murders in Libya, the ongoing attacks on our troops in Afghanistan, and the growing anti-American demonstrations across Africa and the Middle East make it clearer than ever that our foreign policy is not just failing to make us safer, but is actually endangering us.

“Yet, we have a President and a Republican challenger who are far more concerned about taking shots at one another than about the shots that are being fired at America by people on the other side of the globe. We toppled a dictator in Libya, albeit one who is missed by no one, and what do we get for our dollars and effort? An attack on our embassy. In Afghanistan, 10 years after we chased al Qaeda to the hills and to other nations, our troops are still there trying to build a nation that apparently doesn’t want to be built and having the very people we are trying to help turn around and attack our military.

“And from Egypt to Tunisia, the so-called Arab Spring our policies encouraged is sprouting blossoms that are not exactly pro-American.

“The American people deserve a debate about foreign policy, and frankly, there isn’t enough daylight between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney on these issues to actually have a debate. When you cut through the campaign rhetoric, it is not at all clear that the Republican and the Democrat actually differ from one another in terms of what they are doing or propose to do.

“We need to get out of Afghanistan now. We need to turn off the foreign aid to ungrateful recipients. And we need to stop trying to impose our will and our values on peoples that don’t want them.”

About presidential candidate Gary Johnson: Gary Johnson, two-term governor of New Mexico from 1995-2003, has been a consistent advocate for limited, efficient government and personal liberty. Johnson switched from the Republican Party to the Libertarian Party on Dec. 28, 2011. As the Libertarian Party nominee, Johnson will appear on all 50 states’ ballots. An outspoken pro-Constitution Libertarian, Johnson would end the war in Afghanistan now. He opposes the failed multi-billion dollar war on drugs and demands greater transparency at the Federal Reserve. As president, Johnson would cut federal spending by 43 percent, slash debt and make government live within its means while reducing taxes and regulation to foster real job creation and economic opportunity like he did in eight years as governor. The National Review said he was “#1” in job creation as governor. An avid skier and bicyclist, he has reached the highest peaks on four of the seven continents, including Mount Everest.

I heard two Gary Johnson ads today!

“I heard two Gary Johnson radio ads today!”
“I’m jealous, my husband heard one of Gov. Johnson’s radio spots.”

Friends,

These are the kinds of messages we want to hear – and we’re hearing them!

Thanks to your financial support, more and more voters every day are hearing Gov. Johnson’s message over the airwaves on their way to work or during their favorite talk show. And those radio ads are having a very real effect. The crowds at Governor Johnson’s events are growing, our phones are ringing more than ever, and in key states across the country, his poll numbers are gaining.

With only 42 days left before Election Day and many voters already beginning to receive their ballots in the mail, the American people are beginning to really focus on the choice they have to make in the Presidential Election – and the polls continue to show that a great many of them are not very comfortable with either the Democrat Obama or the Republican Romney.

That’s why our advertising is so critical right now, and why we must keep it on the air. You can do just that by going to www.garyjohnson2012.com today and making a contribution that will buy one, two, three or more radio spots in a key swing state or on a popular talk show. We are on the air today because of those contributions, and we must stay on the air.

As the other side of the globe erupts in anti-American protests and violence – voters are looking for a candidate who pledges to bring our troops and our dollars home. As the Fed pumps more devalued dollars into an economy already stimulated to death, voters are looking for a candidate who will turn off the printing presses and protect our dollars from becoming worthless.

And as Barack Obama and Mitt Romney flood the airwaves with negative attacks on one another, Americans are looking for a candidate who is worried about their jobs – not just getting a job for himself. That candidate is Gov. Johnson, and our challenge is to make sure those voters know it!

That is precisely what your contribution atwww.garyjohnson2012.comwill do.
The Republicans and Democrats are doing their best to silence Gov. Johnson. They know voters will respond when they learn of his record, his plans, and his vision of an America where Liberty is safe. That’s why they are still working to keep him off the ballot, and why they are determined to keep him out of their debates. But we have you, and thousands like you across the country, who won’t let that happen.

42 days. That is how much time we have. Let’s make it count, and that begins with having the funds we must have to keep Gov. Johnson on the air, the yard signs going up in neighborhoods, and the bumper stickers going on cars. Please go to www.garyjohnson2012.com today and keep us on a path to make history in November.

Your support has brought us a very long way. The next few weeks will be exciting, challenging – and historic.

Thank you,

Ron Nielson

P.S. Governor Johnson is halfway through his nationwide tour of college campuses. Everywhere he goes, young people are signing up to help. Your contribution will help us reach out to even more of them! Go to www.garyjohnson2012.com.

Libertarian candidate calls for withdrawing from Middle East

September 18, 2012
Los Angeles Times
By Colby Itkowitz

Little-known presidential candidate Gary Johnson gave an answer that would create a media firestorm if delivered by Barack Obama or Mitt Romney: the United States should get out of the Middle East.

Johnson, a Libertarian who is on 47 state ballots and fighting petition challenges in the other three, including Pennsylvania, suggested that the U.S. presence in the Middle East is abetting unrest in the region.

The Patriot Post

All political candidates call themselves freedom-lovers, but they are not. Neither major party really opposes government control of the economy or of our personal lives. I’m a libertarian because I see the false choice offered by political left and right: Democrats talk about personal liberty; Republicans talk about economic freedom. But what they do once in power belies their words.

I say we’re best off if government just leaves us alone to our peaceful cooperation with whomever we please. Let politicians advocate moral behavior. Let them give to charities. But leave government — which is physical force — out of it.

Gary Johnson: ‘These people are let down by the two-party system’

September 20, 2012
The Guardian
By Ed Pilkington

Amid all the flip-flopping and dissembling of the 2012 election, it comes as a bit of a shock to hear one of the presidential candidates say that his interest in politics stemmed from the first time he smoked dope. But then there is much about Gary Johnson, the Libertarian party’s nominee for the White House, that is strikingly out of the mould.

“I think marijuana played a role in my libertarianism, because when in 1970 I smoked it for the first time I realized that everything the government said about it was a lie,” he said. “You know, you smoke marijuana, you’re going to go crazy, you’ll want to commit crime, you are going to go to the depths and never return … None of that was true.”

Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson had his best fundraising month ever in August, but the money remains a pittance compared with the tens of millions of dollars President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are raising. Johnson’s $356,406 last month largely came in the form of modest contributions from hundreds of individuals, new federal records show.

The former New Mexico governor, who initially sought the Republican Party’s presidential nomination this year, also received $73,692 in public matching funds from a federal program both Obama and Romney have rejected.

Gary Johnson was governor of New Mexico from 1995 to 2003. He made a name for himself by vetoing 750 bills that didn’t meet his standards for thrift. Before that, Johnson made a fortune in construction, starting as a solo Albuquerque handyman in 1974 and selling his 1,000-employee company, Big J Enterprises, for $10 million in 1999. Johnson likes to ski, hike, and cycle. He has completed 75 triathlons and climbed Mt. Everest while healing from a broken leg. Also, he is running for president.

Why Gary Johnson Won’t Shut Up About Marijuana

September 21, 2012
The Atlantic
By Molly Ball

In reporting my profile of Gary Johnson in this month’s issue of The Atlantic, one of the things I discovered is that his advisers used to tell him not to talk about pot so much. It made him too easy to pigeonhole as the stoner candidate, not to be taken seriously.

But in his 2012 campaign as the nominee of the Libertarian Party, Johnson has instead made marijuana legalization one of his signature issues. In an ad he hopes to air, highlighted by Conor Friedersdorf in July, Johnson calls President Obama a hypocrite for continuing to prosecute pot smokers even though, as David Maraniss’s recent biography revealed, Obama was a member of a high-school dope-smoking clique called the Choom Gang.

Gary Johnson Sues To Get Into Presidential Debates

JOHNSON CAMPAIGN FILES ANTI-TRUST ACTION AGAINST
NATIONAL COMMISSION ON PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES

Sept. 21, 2012, Saint Paul, Minn. — Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson’s campaign today filed an anti-trust lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Central District of California challenging Johnson’s exclusion from upcoming debates sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates. The Commission announced earlier Friday that invitations to the debates were being extended only to Mitt Romney and Barack Obama.

Announcing the campaign’s legal action, senior Johnson advisor Ron Nielson said, “There is nothing remotely surprising in the fact that a private organization created by and run by the Republican and Democratic Parties has only invited the Republican and Democratic candidates to their debates. It is a bit more disturbing that the national news media has chosen to play the two-party game, when a full one-third of the American people do not necessarily identify with either of those two parties.

“American voters deserve a real debate between now and Election Day. By excluding Gov. Johnson, the Commission on Presidential Debates has guaranteed that there will be no one on the stage challenging continued wars, calling for a balanced budget now — as opposed to decades down the road, and who has never advocated government-run health care.

“Someone has to stand up and call this what it is: A rigged system designed entirely to protect and perpetuate the two-party duopoly. That someone will be the Johnson campaign. We are today filing a lawsuit in Federal Court charging that the National Commission and the Republican and Democratic Parties, by colluding to exclude duly qualified candidates outside the Republican and Democratic Parties, are in violation of the nation’s anti-trust laws.

“It is unfortunate that a successful two-term governor who is already assured of being on the ballot in 47 states and the District of Columbia is forced to turn to the courts to break up a rigged system, but it appears that fairness is not to be found otherwise.”

Johnson’s running mate and retired California Superior Court Judge Jim Gray, who is also a plaintiff, will argue the motion on the campaign’s behalf.

The lawsuit, filed only hours after the Commission’s announcement, charges that the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee and an organization they set up, the Commission on Presidential Debates, have conspired together to restrain trade, both in ideas and in commerce. The lawsuit maintains that the Republican and Democratic Parties, through the CPD, indefensibly limits access of other candidates to the marketplace of ideas and the opportunity to be employed in these highest offices in the land, and in so doing are violating the Sherman Anti-Trust Act of 1890.

The lawsuit seeks an order of the Court enjoining the debates from proceeding unless all candidates who will appear on the ballot in enough states to win in the Electoral College are allowed to participate.

Nielson said the Johnson campaign would likely file additional lawsuits in additional jurisdictions challenging the exclusion of Johnson and Gray from the debates on other grounds.

Prior to 1988, the League of Women Voters sponsored nationally-televised presidential debates. The League withdrew its debate sponsorship after the Republican and Democratic campaigns negotiated an agreement to determine which candidates could participate, who would be panelists, and other details of the debates. The League withdrew its support for the debates because “the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetuate a fraud on the American voter.”

Congressman Ron Paul on Gov. Gary Johnson: “I think he’s wonderful and I think he’s doing a good job and people should look at him and every individual should make up their own mind.”

September 21, 2012

Dear Supporter of Liberty,

A LOT of people are taking Congressman Paul’s advice. They ARE looking at Governor Gary Johnson, and finding the alternative to Barack Obama and Mitt Romney they are seeking.

As Gov. Johnson travels the country – he’s right now in the midst of a nation-wide tour of college campuses – the crowds are growing, the requests for interviews increasing, and the enthusiasm growing. The history we have talked about making is within reach!

That’s why the Republicans continue to try every trick in the book to keep Gov. Johnson off the ballot in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma – the only states left where he is not yet officially listed. But more important, that’s why the radio ads we have launched must continue and all the literature we need to finish printing must be ordered. And that’s why I’m asking you to go to www.garyjohnson2012.com today and make sure we have the funding we need to keep up this amazing momentum.

From their treatment of Congressman Paul at their convention to the tricks they are playing, the Republicans have made it clear that there is no room for real Liberty on their agenda. And the Democrats? Well, Obama’s deficits, support of the Patriot Act and continued printing of money speak for themselves. There is no room for freedom in a bankrupt nation.

As the election draws near, it is clear that Governor Johnson is the third choice millions of Americans are looking for – if they know him, his record, and his unequaled commitment to smaller government and greater liberty. To be a bit blunt, making sure they DO know Governor Johnson comes down to money – the contributions you and thousands like you are making to keep us on the air and on the road. Your contribution at www.garyjohnson2012.com is the key.

Next week, we will need to write checks to keep our radio advertising on the air. Whether we can do that – or not – depends on you. Please go to www.garyjohnson2012.com today and keep Governor Johnson’s voice on the airwaves and in the national debate.

We are making history – and you are a big part of it!

Thank you for your amazing support.

LIBERTARIAN PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE GARY JOHNSON
AT UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE EVENT:
BRING OUR TROOPS AND DOLLARS
HOME FROM AFGHANISTAN NOW

Sept. 19, 2012, Durham, NH — Calling Tuesday’s announcement that the U.S. and NATO are essentially suspending joint operations with Afghan forces a “long-overdue acknowledgement of reality,” presidential candidate and former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson today called on President Obama to “bring our troops home now.”

Appearing at an event at the University of New Hampshire, Gov. Johnson said, “In recent weeks, we have witnessed the unspeakable tragedy of American service members being murdered by the very ‘security forces’ they are training. More than 50 international military personnel have been killed by Afghan forces this year alone, and we have already had to stop trying to ‘train’ Afghan police recruits.

“The net result of recent developments — and decisions — in Afghanistan is that we are at a very dangerous tipping point. There will undoubtedly be those who wrongly suggest that the purported ‘exit strategy’ of the Obama Administration should be delayed and efforts stepped up to get control of the obvious chaos. That would be a monumental mistake, and a failure to face the fact that, as the British and Soviets before us learned, Afghanistan is not a place we can control or upon which we can impose our will. Instead, now is the perfect opportunity for America to say ‘We’re better than this’ and bring our troops home and out of harm’s way.

“Let us not forget that we went into Afghanistan to uproot Al Qaeda and attack those who attacked us on 9/11. That mission was complete in a matter of months. Yet, we have remained there and engaged in ill-fated nation-building for more than a decade — at absurd costs in lives and treasure. After all that American benevolence, it is absolutely unacceptable to ask our troops to hand weapons to Afghan ‘security forces’, teach them how to use them, and then risk being shot by those same forces with those same weapons.

“By suspending that training and now suspending joint operations with Afghan troops, our military leaders on the ground are facing reality. It is time for our political leaders to do the same, and bring our troops and our dollars home.”

Gov. Johnson op-ed: Libya, Afghanistan and the Middle East — Why Obama and Romney are Both Wrong

September 14, 2012
The Huffington Post
By Gov. Gary Johnson

Foreign policy is supposed to make us safer, not get Americans killed and bankrupt us. Yet, even as we mourn the loss of four Americans in Libya and watch the Middle East ignite with anti-American fervor, our leaders don’t get it.

In one corner, we have the U.S. apologists warning that — after the murders in Libya and the attack on our embassy in Cairo — we must be careful not to say or do anything that might hurt someone’s feelings. In the other corner, we have the chest-thumpers demanding that we find somebody to shoot — and shoot them.

Examiner.com
By Matthew Reece

During the past week, new polling results for Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson have come from Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Ohio, and Virginia. These new polls have Johnson winning 3% of the vote in Colorado, 7% in Montana, 7% in New Mexico, 4.5% in Ohio, and 3.8% in Virginia. A Zogby poll released on September 3 had Johnson at 4.3% nationally. While these numbers are not large enough to seriously challenge for the presidency, they do exceed the margin of victory between President Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney in every case.

Philadelphia. One state down, two to go. That’s how Gary Johnson is looking at his current ballot access fight against the Republican Party. This weekend, it was announced that Pennsylvania judges ruled in favor of the Libertarian Presidential candidate. That brings Johnson’s total to 48 states and DC. If the candidate is equally successful in Michigan and Oklahoma, he will be the only challenger to the establishment’s Obama and Romney appearing on ballots in all 50 states.

Turn Your Radio On

Friends,
Thanks to you, Liberty is on the air across America!

We are receiving phone calls and emails from people across the country who are hearing the very first radio ads from Gov. Gary Johnson. And they are excited. If you haven’t heard the spots, you can listen here: Be Libertarian with Me

Your contributions have put Gov. Johnson’s message of freedom, small government, and non-intervention abroad on key radio programs and in key states for millions to hear.

The timing is perfect. With the Republican and Democratic conventions over, the world erupting in violence against American interference, and no end to our economic turmoil in sight, many voters are not feeling good about their ‘major party’ choices in November – and they are ready to listen to Gov. Johnson. Now we have to make sure our message STAYS on the air. Your support today will do just that.

It is no secret that we don’t have the hundreds of millions of special interest dollars the Republicans and Democrats have. But we have you – and we have the truth. Fortunately, it doesn’t take as much money to tell the truth as it does for Gov. Romney and President Obama to convince voters that, if they put the status quo back in office, things are somehow going to be different.

We MUST keep Gov. Johnson on the air. The radio advertising buy we launched this week will be finished in a few days – unless we have the funds to keep the ads on the air. And of course, as we get closer to the election, we need to spread them to more stations, more programs and more cities. Your contribution today makes that happen.

All the work, all the financial support, and all Gov. Johnson’s effort over the past several months are paying off. The national media, the Republican and Democrat establishments, and voters across the nation are taking note of Gov. Johnson. Our social media – Facebook, Google+ and Twitter – have exploded with new followers. Now, it is crunch time. More than ever, it is critical that we have the funding to execute the plans we have made for these final few weeks.

Please go to www.garyjohnson2012.com and make sure we keep Liberty on the air!

Thanks, as always, for your support.

Ron Nielson
Senior Advisor
Gov. Gary Johnson

P.S. Our legal battles across the nation continue with the Republicans who are trying to keep Gov. Johnson off the ballot in key states. Those fights make your contributions more important than ever. Please go to www.garyjohnson2012.com and help.

Online Town Hall Wednesday with Governor Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party presidential Nominee

Wednesday, Sept 19, 2012

4:30 PM PDT/ 5:30 PM MDT/ 6:30 PM CDT/ 7:30 PM EDT

With the election drawing near, I want to make sure you have ample opportunities to communicate directly with me about the campaign, the issues that are on your mind, and any questions you may have.

To that end, on Wednesday night, I will be hosting an online Town Hall – and I hope you will join me. From the events of recent days in the Middle East, Libya, and Afghanistan to the ongoing efforts of the Republican Party and Mitt Romney to prevent my name from appearing on ballots across the nation, we have a lot to talk about, and I am anxious to hear your views and answer any questions you might have.

The next few weeks are going to be exciting – and historic. You are a part of that history, and it is important that we stay in close touch. This online Town Hall will be an excellent opportunity.

This town hall will be featured on Vokle.com. To ask questions via video or text, simply sign into your Facebook account or sign up for a Vokle account. If you just want to watch the town hall, go to www.GaryJohnson2012.com.

Again, go to www.GaryJohnson2012.com Wednesday evening for what I am sure will be a great discussion.

Hope to see you online!

Gov. Gary Johnson
